Michael goes to Google

Today was Google's shareholder meeting and I took an extra 2 hours off work to go.   Seriously, it is down the street, literaly, from where I work so I had no excuse, haha.   Jack came along too, he has 1 Google share, no one else had any shares on the eligibaility date.   All in all it was a great day!   Google's headquaters is kind of like an all inlcusive resort.   From the outside it looks like a bunch of buildings but when you arrive and start to walk toward the visitor center you see things differently.   The walk begins with a nicely landscaped path.   As you continue to walk there are more and more plants, and trees, and such.   Then you arrive at a central courtyard, which all the buildings face, and you notice a hot tub, a beach volleyball court, a bunch of outdoor patios and a bussling group of Googlers moving from building to building.   It was like I stepped into a resort, seriously, except everyone was holding a laptop.   The day started off with free food at one of Google's cafeteria's.   The food was very good, I had jerk chicken, tenderloin steak, sides, pasta salad, fruit, and some great desserts.   Plus Google has their own custom Its Its ice cream sandwhichs, so I tried that too.   And all the cooks and waitors were so happy, even the cleaning people were happy, everyone was happy.   By the way, food is free for employees too.   Then we sat down in the auditorium, which was fairly impressive with special lighting and sound and video cameras, etc... We were sitting right behind all the executives, literally about 15 feet away from 10 of the most influential people in the world.   It was very exciting when Larry Page and Sergey Brin, co-founders, came walking in like normal people and sat with the other directors.   We then went through all the standard corporate stuff like voting, which was boring except for some interesting opinions from shareholders regarding some of the items on the ballot.   This was followed by a quick presentation from Eric Schmidt, the CEO, which was very well done.   Finally we finished with a Q&A with the CEO and founders.   I was going to ask a question but it was answered in the presenation, basically Google's going to be taking over the world pretty soon, haha.   I would be concerned if it wasn't for the fact that all the exectives only want to make the world a better place.   Anyways, this was a really cool day for me, and it made me realize something.   There's a lot of people who want to be the next Larry Page or Sergey Brin, but most are going to fail.   I know how hard I'm going to have to work now, haha. cya, Michael
